NOTE:
CHARGE.com 800-932-5708 #2614
These guys have been around for a long time. In the
beginning (early 90's), they generated merchant
account leads online and then sold them to Merchant
Account providers. Somewhere along the line they
decided to provide the accounts too.
This rate
finding process was very interesting and quite a
chore. This research process lasted nearly 2 weeks.
We first emailed many questions about their fees
which we received no reply at all. We then went onto
their website application and actually completed
their forms up until they were asking for social
security number and date of birth. Asking for this
info means that they want to pull a credit report so
we stopped there. Even though we did not click a
submit button, we immediately started getting emails
ordering us to return and finish the application.
We
then received a multitude of other emails saying we
were approved, congratulations; click this link to
activate your account, etc., etc. We sent more
emails using the email link on their website telling
them that we were the ones that didn't finish the
application because we needed answers to some
question that we had previously emailed, but
received no reply. We asked if they would please
first answer our questions so we could make an
intelligent decision. This triggered emails from a
few of their people flaunting corporate titles and
claiming that they guarantee that their program is
the absolute best and the lowest, but we still got
no answers to our questions. Then, the emails
ordering us to return and finish the application
came again. They sometimes read, "THIS IS OUR LAST
ATTEMPT!!!"
We answered these emails with still more requests
that our questions be answered, but they would not
give us what we wanted. Then a man that seemed as
though he was the "ultimate big boss" emailed and
said that we MUST call if we want to know anything.
So.....we called. It is very humorous to know
everything about Merchant Account fees and then
listen to others tell their stories about them. It
is harmless, but it makes one wonder if a career in
fantasy book writing might be the correct calling.
So, if you are ready and willing to get out your
largest negotiating hammer, jump into the fox hole
for about 2 weeks, you may get their best deal which
is listed above.
